Myofascial Release Massage

Fascia is the connective tissue that surrounds all of our muscles, organs, bones and nerves. It holds the body’s structures together, gives them their characteristic shapes, and supports and connects the body as a whole.

Fascial restrictions are places where the tissues are less pliable, shortened or adhering. These restrictions limit mobility, and cause postural distortion, pain and poor cellular nutrition.

Myofascial massage releases restrictions to restore mobility and relieve pain.

Manual Lymph Drainage

Manual Lymph Drainage (MLD), also known as Lymphatic Facilitation, is a light and gentle massage technique used to facilitate the removal of fluid and cellular debris that collects in tissues after a trauma or inflammation. An application of slow, light repetitive strokes help move lymph fluid through the lymph vessels to be cleansed by the nodes and released back into the body.

This is a very powerful modality that hastens healing and provides pain relief. It is very beneficial for people with lipedema, venous insufficiency, localized swelling from surgery, injury, or burns, as well as lymphedema caused by removal of lymph nodes.

MLD is also very helpful in relieving pain from fibromyalgia, rheumatoid arthritis, lyme’s disease, scleroderma, chronic fatigue and sinusitis. A powerful detoxifier, it enhances the beauty of the skin, helps with rosacea and acne, and enhances cellular level immunity.

Many people enjoy a session of MLD for relaxation and rejuvenation.

Why go organic?

I use only 100% organic oils and lotions, and therapeutic grade essential oils, free of petroleum, parabens and phthalates.  Why does that matter?

Your skin is the largest organ of your body, and it absorbs everything applied to it, just as if you were eating it.

Would you eat petroleum?  Of course not, but it’s a common additive to many lotions and cosmetics.  It is not digested by the body and lines the digestive tract, much like cholesterol lines the arteries.

Parabens are preservatives found in most cosmetic products, from lip gloss to shampoo.  While they extend the shelf life of those products, they also mimic the hormone estrogen.  Parabens disrupt normal hormone and immune system function and have been linked to breast cancer development.

Phthalates are plasticizers and are found in a large variety of products ranging from paints and glues to lotions, shampoos and makeup.  Research shows a direct link to allergies, asthma, breast cancer and endocrine disruption.

When you receive a massage from me you will be able to relax knowing that I will only use the most pure products I can find.

Green Stone Deep Tissue Massage

Green Stone Deep Tissue Massage uses a curved stone shaped to do deep massage.  It is especially suited for cross fiber deep tissue work on the neck and shoulders.  The rounded point allows for deep work and the release of trigger points.  The broad end allows the muscles to be smoothed with even pressure and aids in toxin release.  The use of the stone is combined with traditional Swedish and Deep Tissue therapies.

Soft Touch Island Relaxation Massage was developed by Lolita Knight, LMT and is based on her years of experience with Island Massage in Fiji and Tonga.  This technique employs a series of light strokes using the hands, fingertips and forearms.  The motions allow the mind to be unfocused, aiding deep relaxation.  It is usually combined with traditional Swedish and Deep Tissue  massage allowing more tension and stress to be released.
